| Christopher Michael Southern began exploring his interest in wildlife fine art during his early teens. As young as twelve, Chris was already capturing the essence of the animals personalities in his studies of both White Tail Deer and native fish species. These interests lead him to study commercial art and photography obtaining his associated degree. With a desire to expand his education, Chris Southern has also attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, studied under the renowned wildlife artist Terry Isaac at the Bear Tooth School of Art, and is currently working in color theory and acrylics art with David Nance. Mr. Southern worked for five years with a commercial design agency before establishing his studio, Southern Outdoor Traditions, that specializes in Limited Edition Prints and Open Edition Prints. Chris Southern's work are International shown and in private collections. Through his studio he has expanded the media for his fine art images to include poetry, stationary, note pads, book marks, Greeting Cards, t-shirts, mugs, Christmas ornaments and other fine gifts. His latest edition, "Tricolor Tribute", features the Beagle and shows Chris's well honed art skills with his close attention to fine details and physical accuracy for his animals. Through his carefully executed graphite work he has captured the spirit of the canine world's top rabbit hunters, the Short Leg Beagle. On his work table at this time are new artworks that will feature the Golden Retriever, next Black and Tan & Blue tick Coon Dog treeing a raccoon, and an assortment of Pointers flushing a covey of Quail.
